After spending nearly 20 years working as a pastry chef, I decided that a career change was in order. Although the kitchen was and remains a wonderful place to showcase my talents, the stress of working in this type of setting started to overwhelm me. The bright lights of the kitchen filled with the sounds of clanging pots and pans along with the 3AM awakenings were a stark contrast to the serenity I felt while getting a massage treatment. At 38, I turned another page in my life when I entered the hallowed halls of the Muscular Therapy Institute. I felt my tensions literally melt away as I learned massage techniques and I began to fall in love with the profession. I loved the fact that I was actually helping people maintain or regain their health rather than squashing it with a butter and heavy cream laden flourless chocolate cake. Although I still tinker in the pastry field, the work I do as a massage therapist has brought me great fulfillment and one that can’t be measured in pounds or ounces. I feel honored to be trusted by those who come to see me to help relieve chronic pain, to speed recovery due to an injury or simply to relax. To you, my door and heart are always open.
